Free tools
Five free tools from a working studio.
Two of these started as things we needed on our own filming days. The other three began as questions we get asked often enough that it seemed worth building a proper answer. They are all free, none of them need an account, and there is no paid tier behind them.

Nothing here asks for your email address before it works.
Miracue
A teleprompter that reads with you.
Write the script at your desk, open the same page on whatever device sits in front of the camera, and read. It follows your voice, waits when you stop, and finds you again if you jump back.
MiracueStow
Know when a card is safe to wipe.
Stow copies a card to two drives at once, reads every file back off the disk to prove the copy landed, then gives you a plain verdict: safe to wipe, or not yet.
StowVideo strategy guide
Which video to make next.
Pick the point where things are stalling, whether people are not finding you, not convinced, or not deciding. It shows the formats that tend to move that stage, with typical lengths and what is worth measuring.
Video strategy guideVideo ROI calculator
The same budget, spent two ways.
Put your own numbers in and it compares one large film against a steady run of content on the same money. It makes no promises about the outcome. It just does the arithmetic.
Video ROI calculatorEmail signature generator
A signature that survives every inbox.
Enter your details, pick a layout, and copy the result straight into Gmail, Outlook or Apple Mail. Nothing to install, and it works the same for one person or a whole team.

Most of these came out of a real problem on a shoot.
Why these exist
We wanted them ourselves.
Stow came from losing an afternoon of footage we thought had been backed up. Miracue came from wanting a prompter we could open on any device on a filming day. Both get used on our own shoots, which is the main reason they keep improving.
Once a tool exists, letting other people use it costs very little. That is most of the reason they are free, and none of them has a paid version.
The three web tools are a bit different. They are the questions that come up often enough to be worth working out properly rather than answering one at a time: what to make next, whether the money makes sense, and how to put a signature together that holds up in every inbox.
If something here is missing or wrong, we would rather hear about it than not. There is a contact form on the site and it reaches us.
And if you need the video itself.
Making the film is the part we do for a living. If you are working out what to make, or you have a filming day coming up and want a hand with it, we would be happy to talk it through.
